AFA began its activities in 1980 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, which is its preferred market and where its main clients are located.

Having established itself in the sector of civil construction- private work projects - the company soon realized the need to expand and diversify its activities and the scope of its work, initially expanding into the public works sector and, more recently, into real estate promotion.

This diversification into other areas has been implemented over time in a carefully planned manner, based on a strict technical and financial foundation, in order to ensure steady and economically sustainable growth.

So it was that in 1985, AFA created the Department of Civil Construction and Public Works, acquiring new and modern equipment in order to become self-sufficient, both in terms of production as well as in transports. Definitively focusing its activity on major public works projects, the firm participated in the construction of the principal motorways that are the fundamental core of the highway network and road accesses of the Region.
